What a shock
well I have finally had my electric shock (Cardioversion to give it it"s proper name) so maybe now I will not feel as though I have run a marathon every day. I am not quite there yet but I expect it takes time, perhaps when I have my check-up in about six weeks I will be feeling the full benefit.

Yet another spoiled holiday
I think that I will have to forget about having holidays. I certainly did not plan on spending half the last one in a Cretan hospital. Having said that they did look after me very well, too well in some ways. Being diabetic they gave me no sugar, because of my heart problem salt was cut out and to cap it all I developed a stomach problem with all the medication so they cut out dairy products. Imagine, breakfast was the best meal consisting of two small dry crispy toasts and a cup of tea without milk, lunch was a bowl of rice served in the water it was boiled in with a squeeze of lemon plus a bottle of water, for dinner there was a bowl of spaghetti unseasoned and with no sauce just a piece of dry chicken and another bottle of water. I did enjoy the rest of the holiday however and had plenty of time to spend with my friend Jessica and even Ginger got used to me in the end.

Grand Hotel
I know that I joked about salmonella hotel but I did not expect my joke to come home to roost. Seemingly there was a bug in the hotel which was described alternately as being spread hand to mouth and as an airbourne virus. I and several others from our party succumbed on Wednesday night and Stuart had to come and collect me on Thursday as we were in quarantine and could not travel with the others on the coach. I think that the Grand Hotel has seen the last of me because they knew about this outbreak before we arrived and said nothing until tuesday when it had been in the local papers. More of the holiday when I feel better.

Home alone!

This is the third time that I have attempted this post, first I had trouble with pictures then I lost the internet connection. I am alone once more, Alan went home last Thursday. He had intended to take me to Caistor last Wednesday but Norma and John were going for a break to Thoresby Hall so we decided to have a day out and visit them there. We had a really good day, I took some photos (not very good) and Alan took some (marginally better!) I will only try and include one this time having had so much trouble before, (tuition needed I fear).

flowers

How do you like my Quatermass flowers? ( most of you will not remember the programme, Stuart calls them" Tryfidds"). Alan bought the plants for me a week ago they were only 3 inches high then. I have had to support them with three knitting needles, with one they just pulled it over. The perfume meets you as you come in the door.

On line again.
At last my Internet is working and thanks to Stuart have at last got my painting on the last blog.
I had a day out this week at Millstones with the residents of Rycroft Green including my friend Peggy and her daughter Christine. A good day was had by everybody in spite of a mix up in the leaving time. While we were there Peggy and I decided that we would like another holiday at the Long Eaton Hotel in Blackpool so when we came home we booked for June.
TODAY I GOT A NEW MOBILE PHONE! I traded my old phone in, paid £14.95 with £20 credit on the phone how is that for a bargain! I will probably never have to top it up again. Thanks again to Stuart for taking me and Louise for looking up the right place to go and her technical help.

I started my week by going to my exercise class at Pudsey Live @ Home scheme( specially evolved for geriatrics like me.) We meet at St. Andrews in Pudsey, I go with my friend Joyce on Monday mornings and we sit on chairs for an hour doing a "gentle" workout to music.
On Tuesday Alan came to stay for one of his regular hospital appointments and he is still here but going home on Monday.
Wednesday was my day for having lunch at Rycroft Green Sheltered housing with another friend Peggy, roast ham this week.
Thursday Joyce Peggy and I go to the Live at Home painting group where we meet people with similar interests and spend an enjoyable two hours painting and chatting. I finished a painting of Stonehenge this week Ihave tried to take a photograph to include but my hand is not very steady so I am afraid it is a bit out of focus.
Tonight I am going to Rycroft Green for a Pie and Pea supper and tomorrow Alan and I will be visiting Stuart and family so it has been a busy week.
